Timbuctoo Bridge Replacement – Yuba County, CA

Holdrege & Kull was awarded a master contract for on-call construction quality assurance, inspection, and geotechnical consultation services through a competitive selection process with the County of Yuba to work on multiple federal aid projects. As part of the contract, H&K provided construction quality assurance services on the Timbuctoo Road Bridge Replacement over Deep Ravine on State Route 20 near the Yuba River.

The project included demolition and removal of the existing bridge and realignment of the roadway to construct a two-span, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge supported by spread footing abutments with retaining walls/wing walls and a single cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) rock socket and pier foundation. CQA services were provided for earthwork grading, foundation excavations, and retaining wall backfilling. H&K also provided inspection of reinforcing steel and structural steel, inspection and sampling of cast-in-place concrete, and sampling and conformance testing of HMA.
